Verónica Gonzalez

Medical and Digital Content Intern

Veronica Gonzalez is currently a fourth-year undergraduate at the University of Chicago completing her studies as a Comparative Human Development major and Health in Society minor on the Pre-Med track. As a Texas native, she has found community in Chicago’s Hyde Park by volunteering at an after-school program and as a member of Students for Disability Justice and MECHa, UChicago’s Chicano empowerment group. She has also served as a mentor to high schoolers throughout her undergraduate career by being a college advising volunteer and a leader in Model UN. Her interdisciplinary interests in public health stemmed from witnessing the impact of racial health inequities in her home communities, particularly those arising from misinformation and a lack of health advocacy and literacy education. This mindset has guided her towards pursuits as a Research Fellow for Dr. Aresha Martinez-Cardoso at UChicago’s Department of Public Health and as an Intern for the ACHIEVE community health and education program under the guidance of Dr. Anna Volerman. She is also a trained musician and in her free time she enjoys playing and listening to music alongside friends and family as well as illustrating, crocheting, and reading.
